Lamar Award
Named in honor of Mirabeau B. Lamar—the Republic of Texas’s second president and celebrated “Father of Texas Education”—this award recognizes graduating students (and at times, educators) who embody academic excellence, strong moral character, community service, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Established by the Grand Lodge of Texas in 1988, the Lamar Award is one of the highest honors a Texas Masonic lodge can bestow in the field of education. For our lodge, it is more than just a scholarship; it is a way to invest in the future leaders of our community, to encourage the pursuit of knowledge, and to honor the Masonic belief that education is the foundation of a better society.
Recipients are presented with a distinguished medal, an official certificate, and a scholarship during our annual recognition ceremony—an event we consider one of the most meaningful in our calendar year.
